FAQs

  • What is check-in time?

Check-in time is 3:00 PM unless prior arrangements have been made with management.

    Checkout time is 11:00 AM.

  • Is each building actually two cottages in one?

No, all buildings are single cottages.

Even though some cottages have two front entry doors, they are not shared by other parties. The entire cottage is occupied by one guest/group at a time.

  • Is the Main Inn available to visitors?

Not anymore. The Main Inn and pool are now privately owned and are no longer available for guest lodging. Only the cottages are available for guest accommodations.

  • Are you on the beach?

Lakefront view of Scenic Rock Ledge Inn

While we do not have a sandy beach, we are a waterfront access property. Our steps to the water are directly across Sand Road from the property.

Once down those steps, there are a series of sandbars that create a great swimming area that goes on for over 100 yards into the lake. Most of the property along Sand Road is in the “bluffs” area, so there are really no sandy beaches along this side of Catawba Island.

There are, however, several nice beaches within minutes of our cottages including Port Clinton city beach and East Harbor State Park, the largest in the area.

  • How many people can your cottages accommodate?

Cottages 1 & 3 will comfortably sleep 5. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed and a single-size futon chair. The living room has a double-bed-size futon. Both Cottages 1 & 3 have two full bathrooms.

Cottages 2 & 4 will accommodate up to 6. The living room in cottages 2 & 4 have a double-bed-size futon. Cottage 2 has two twin beds in one of the bedrooms and a full-size bed in the other bedroom. Cottage 4 has full-size beds in each of its two bedrooms.

There is a 6-person maximum occupancy per cottage.

  • Is smoking allowed?

All of our cottages are smoke-free. For the enjoyment and comfort of all our guests, all smokers are asked to please limit smoking to porches & decks, and please refrain from throwing cigarettes on ground. Cigarette butt cans are provided on every porch. Common grounds areas are also smoke-free out of respect for our other guests. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

  • May I bring my pet(s)?

We do not allow pets in the cottages or on the property. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Is Wi-Fi available at the property?

Yes! Wi-Fi is now available in all cottages.

  • Are there launch ramps nearby?

We are minutes to a variety of launch facilities. Just down the road is the state launch ramp on Moore’s Dock Road which will put you in on the west side of Catawba; good for heading to South Bass Island, West Sister or other islands nearby. There is also a state launch ramp on NE Catawba Road into West Harbor, which is closer to Kelleys Island, Marblehead Lighthouse and Cedar Point. There are many transient dockage facilities also available, and we will be happy to provide you with phone numbers and locations.

  • How far are you from Cedar Point?

We are 30 minutes from Cedar Point and can provide you with directions for the “back way” into the park area. You can avoid the Route 250 traffic jams by using this route.

  • What other amenities are you close to?

We are minutes from all of the island ferries: the Jet Express in downtown Port Clinton to Put-in-Bay (South Bass Island), Miller Ferry at the tip of Catawba Island to Put-in-Bay (South Bass Island) and Middle Bass Island; Kelleys Island ferry in Marblehead to Kelleys Island.

We are 15 minutes from the downtown Marblehead shopping district and the Marblehead Lighthouse state park; 10 minutes from East Harbor State Park, the largest in the area with the best beaches and trails in the area. It is only 30 minutes to historic Milan and Edison’s birthplace and museum; 30 minutes to the extraordinary Bellevue train museum where you can tour over 20 actual trail cars. The Magee Marsh and Crane Creek wildlife areas are another easy 25-minute trip west on SR 2; and we are a short 30-minute drive to Cedar Point (and can point out the back way to avoid the traffic!).

We recommend our guests stop at the Ottawa County/Lake Erie Shores & Islands Visitor’s Bureau on SR 53N, just after you exit SR 2 onto SR 53 (across from the Harbor Light Landing shops) and pick up a travel guide to the area. We also provide these guides, as well as other brochures in the cottages, so you can get the most from your trip to the Lake.

We hope to see you soon!
